The Chinese Communist Party is erasing the heritage of China’s Uyghur population. More than 1 million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities have been detained in internment camps throughout Xinjiang since 2017.
Mosques and cultural sites in Xinjiang are being demolished, while traditional religious practices, modes of dress and language practiced by Uyghurs are severely restricted.
