How can we better protect biodiversity on this planet? On August 23, join a live Q&A with conservationists gearing up for the world’s largest conservation event, the World Conservation Congress in Hawaii (#IUCNCongress).

Samuel M. ‘Ohukani‘ōhi‘a Gon III and Amanda McCarty will be ready to take your questions. You can tweet them in advance to #WeNeedNature.

Gon, senior scientist at the Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, studied ecology for four decades in such hot spots as Hawaii, the Galapagos Islands, the Philippines and the Amazon region. His work fuses scientific understanding with Hawaiian traditional practices.

He will join McCarty of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Sea Grant Office, an expert on climate change and ocean ecosystems.

The live webcast will take place at 7 p.m. EDT/2300 UTC on Tuesday, August 23, on Facebook Live.
