
Les États-Unis font cause commune avec des partenaires internationaux pour donner des vaccins contre la COVID-19 au monde entier et mettre fin à la pandémie.
Le soutien de l’Amérique à cette lutte mondiale se traduit par :
- le don à d’autres pays de 250 millions de doses de vaccin ;
- l’achat d’un milliard de doses destinées à être données à près d’une centaine de pays en développement ;
- une contribution de 4 milliards de dollars à la Gavi, l’Alliance du vaccin, en soutien à la COVAX, le mécanisme international visant à assurer la distribution équitable de vaccins sûrs et efficaces contre la COVID-19 dans le monde entier ;
- et l’acheminement de médicaments, de fournitures et de produits thérapeutiques essentiels, ainsi que d’autres formes d’assistance pour aider les pays à reconstruire leur économie, à surmonter les pénuries alimentaires et à renforcer la sécurité sanitaire.
« Les États-Unis seront l’arsenal mondial de vaccins dans notre lutte commune contre ce virus », a affirmé le président Biden dans une déclaration en date du 3 juin. « Nous continuerons de faire tout ce qui est en notre pouvoir pour construire un monde plus sûr et plus sécurisé contre la menace des maladies infectieuses. »
