“The United States believes in Ukraine’s future as a new pro-business, transparent and dynamic economy in the heart of Europe,” said U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce Andrews at the U.S.–Ukraine Business Forum. “We stand ready to be a strong partner.”
That’s not wishful thinking. Ukraine boasts a number of attractive sectors for investment, including a booming IT industry. There is near-universal literacy, and almost three-quarters of the population has a secondary or higher education. The government is undertaking efforts to eliminate corruption and create a better environment for businesses to prosper.
