International Jazz Day is upon us. Get ready to jam.

What does jazz mean to you?

For keyboard legend Herbie Hancock, “you’re able to transcend the mind and let the heart pour through.” Musicians and fans alike are getting into that groove during April, which is Jazz Appreciation Month.

If you’re ready for some jazz, watch this interactive jam session with two of the finest musicians in Washington: pianist Mark Meadows and vocalist Lena Seikaly.

Jazz Appreciation Month culminates in International Jazz Day on April 30, when President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will host musicians such as Aretha Franklin, Sting, Diana Krall and Herbie Hancock for a concert at the White House. You can follow along on Twitter @IntlJazzDay.
