The Syrian regime’s horrific chemical attack on its own people continues to shock the world.
Bashar al-Assad of Syria agreed four years ago to the Chemical Weapons Convention, a treaty that bans use of chemical weapons and aims to rid the world of chemical weapons. Yet in the April 4 chemical attack, “Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children,” said President Trump.
“Assad did this because he thought he could get away with it,” said U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. The attack was not an isolated incident and presents a clear threat to the region and the world.
