On June 6, from the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, President Trump addressed President Emmanuel Macron of France, the people of France and America, and the surviving veterans of the Normandy invasion. They gathered to mark the 75th commemoration of D-Day, when Allied forces launched the western front against Hitler’s forces in Europe and contributed to Nazi Germany’s final defeat 11 months later. The presidents were joined by their wives, first lady Melania Trump and Brigitte Macron.
