Os Estados Unidos trabalham com parceiros internacionais visando doar vacinas contra a Covid-19 ao mundo e pôr fim à pandemia.
O apoio dos EUA em favor da luta global contra a Covid-19 inclui:
- Doar 473 milhões de doses de vacinas* para outros países.
- Aquisição de 1 bilhão de doses de vacinas para doar a quase cem países em desenvolvimento.
- Contribuir com US$ 4 bilhões para a Gavi, a Aliança de Vacinas de apoio à Covax, iniciativa global que busca distribuir de forma equitativa vacinas seguras e eficazes contra a Covid-19 em todo o mundo.
- Distribuir medicamentos essenciais, suprimentos e métodos terapêuticos, bem como outros tipos de assistência, a fim de ajudar países a reconstruir economias, superar a escassez de alimentos e fortalecer a segurança sanitária.
“Os Estados Unidos serão o arsenal mundial de vacinas em nossa luta compartilhada contra esse vírus”, disse o presidente Biden através de um comunicado emitido em 3 de junho. “Continuaremos a fazer tudo o que estiver ao nosso alcance para construir um mundo mais seguro e protegido contra a ameaça de doenças infecciosas.”
