Stoves should not take food off the table

You know air pollution makes it harder for you to breathe. But did you know it can take food off your plate? More evidence worldwide shows that air pollution destroys crops. One recent study in India found crop yields cut nearly in half in polluted areas.

Concerned leaders and citizens are introducing more efficient, nonpolluting cookstoves, curbing outdoor burning, and adding diesel-particulate fuel filters to vehicles. That’s great news, because such measures have quick results, clearing the air so that farmers will get better yields.
