With the upcoming 72nd United Nations General Assembly, the United States continues its commitment to the intergovernmental organization and to leading the way in reforming it for the future. The U.S. is a founding member of the U.N. and has maintained a prominent financial and leadership role, furthering the organization’s mission of maintaining security, defending human rights, enabling peace and promoting the sovereignty of nations.

“Our goal with the administration,” said U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, “is to show value at the U.N., and the way that we’ll show value is to show our strength, show our voice, have the backs of our allies and make sure that our allies have our back as well.”
