White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner and Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt met on June 22 and 23 in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Following the meetings, Kushner described the prospects for peace as “very much alive.”
The meetings followed a regional tour that took Kushner and Greenblatt to Jordan, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Kushner spoke of his commitment to the peace process in an interview with the Palestinian newspaper Al Quds, a transcript of which was published in the New York Times. Asked to speak directly to the Palestinian people, he said: “You deserve to have a bright future. Now is a time where both the Israelis and Palestinians must bolster and refocus their leadership, to encourage them to be open towards a solution and to not be afraid of trying.”
