Venezuela: Severe food shortages

Fifth in a series of six images of the human cost of Venezuela’s crisis

Malnutrition is rampant in Venezuela. According to UNICEF, 7 million Venezuelans — nearly half of them children — need food. For months, international aid has been positioned at Venezuela’s border, where forces of Maduro’s illegitimate reign of repression have blocked its entry.

Miguel Blanco, pictured above, is 28 and suffers extreme malnutrition in addition to a neurological condition.

The first, second, third, fourth and sixth images in this series are also available.
